Addressing
the media persons on the sidelines of a foundation stone laying ceremony
function of an Indoor sports stadium at Public College Samana, Mr. Badal said
that today the well awakened public of the country would teach a lesson to the
Congress led UPA government during the coming Lok Sabha elections in 2014 for
their discriminatory, apathetic and anti-people policies, which had enhanced
inflation up to an un-controllable level in the country.
Replying a question about the performance of
UPA, Mr. Badal said that the Central Government was not performing its duty
like a National Government, there were only few Congress led state governments
which were being favored by the Center. Punjab
had always given step motherly treatment added Mr. Badal. Emphasizing the need
to given full autonomy to the states, the Chief Minister said that today
country needs a federal government structure in accordance with the
constitutional recommendations for the consistent development of all states and
every citizen. He said that the UPA government had thrown all the democratic norms
and constitutional ethics in air, today states had no free hand
even for the state issues like sanctioning of link roads and drinking water
schemes etc.
Replaying another question about the effect on the SAD if Manpreet Singh Badal
joins congress, Mr. Badal said that how come it would affect SAD, Mr. Manpreet
was all alone in his party as every one other had left him.
Earlier, addressing the function after unveiling the foundation stone of Rs.
1.38 crore Indoor sports stadium at Public College Samana, Mr. Badal listed the
major achievements of the SAD-BJP government in the education sector. He said
that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjab
which was earlier at 14th position had been ranked No.1 in
Education with the concerted efforts of SAD-BJP alliance government. He said
that the SAD-BJP government had spent Rs. 3,168 crore in upgrading and creating
new infrastructure in education sector, besides recruiting 71,025 teachers,
establishing nine new Universities, 17 new Degree colleges, IIT Ropar and seven
high-Tech polytechnic colleges etc. to impart quality education with special
focus to benefit rural youth more.
He further said that to
motivation Punjabi youth to join Defence services State-of-the-art Maharaja
Ranjit Singh Army services Preparatory
Academy had been
established at Mohali. Likewise 4 units of NCC comprising Boys and Girls Battalions in the NCC
Academies set up at Ropar and Malout and 3 Punjab Naval Unit NCC established at
Bathinda.
Conceding the demands of the area, Mr. Badal asked the Rural Development
Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra to prepare a comprehensive plan for the
overall development of the Samana constituency in a phased manner. He
also announced Rs. 10 lac for the development works. Reiterating the firm
commitment of SAD-BJP government to provide basic amenities for all the people
of the state Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP had been re-elected for the second
term only because of its pro-people policies and programs, he also assured the
people that this journey of development would be kept continue.
Speaking
on the occasion Rural Development Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra said that
people of Punjab had reposed their unflinching
faith in the leadership of Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, who has ensured record
development in the state. He said that in fact it was the development,
transparency in governance and governance reforms initiated by SAD-BJP
government for which people had voted for the SAD and BJP in the recent assembly
elections.
Earlier,
the founder member of the College Management Committee Dr. Lakshman Daas Sewak
welcomed the Chief Minister and Principal Dr. Arvind Mohan read-out the
achievements of the college that had been declared as a Model
College by the Punjabi University
in 1995-96.
On
the occasion Mr. Badal also laid the foundation stone of a park to be
constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 Lac in the cremation ground of Samana town.
Prominent amongst others who attended the function Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar,
NRI Mr. Charanjit Singh Rakhra, Mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan, mr. Randheer Singh
Rakhra, Mr. Surjit Singh Ablowal and Mr. Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu, besides many
other leaders & workers of SAD and BJP.
