SAD STRONGLY CONDEMNS SHIELA GOVERNMENT’S MOVE TO PARDON KISHORI LAL CONVICTED IN 1984 SIKH MASSACRE

Chandigarh, October 5 : The Shiromani Akali Dal expressed deep anguish and shock over the recommendations of the Congress party’s Sheila Dikshit Government of Delhi to pardon Kishori Lal convicted for the cold blooded murder of 7 innocent Sikhs in 1984 sikh massacre and said that this move has once again hurt the sentiments of the sikh community.
It may be recalled that Kishori Lal was awarded death punishment thrice in the above said cases and his each death sentence was converted into life imprisonment by the Supreme Court. Previously the Sheila Dikshit government had condoned his life imprisonment in one case, but he could not be released because of the other two punishments. But this time, the Congress government has shamelessly gone a step further and recommended his release condoning life imprisonment in other two cases to the Lt. Governor of Delhi.
In a statement released from the party head office here today, the party Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it was ironical that the Congress party instead of pursuing the remaining cases to ensure punishment to the guilty of the sikh massacre of 1984,  which shook the whole world, was working overtime to release even those who had been convicted by honourable court of the law. This has once again exposed the cruel nexus between the perpetrators of such heinous crime and the Congress party. He said that with this shameless decision of the Congress government of Delhi, the cat is out of the bag now.
Dr. Cheema further said that this recommendation had come at a time when the whole nation is demanding strictest punishment for other criminals who led the mobs to kill the innocent Sikhs and their children like Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler. “The Congress party is behaving in a most irresponsible, illegal, unconstitutional and shameful manner”, he added.
He further said that this action of the Delhi government had sent shocking waves across the whole nation and all right thinking people fail to understand the logic behind this decision of the Delhi Chief Minister. The SAD urged the Lt. Governor of Delhi to immediately reject the recommendations of the Sheila Dikshit government and ensure that guilty undergoes punishment till the last day of his jail term as ordered by the honourable court.
